Do you plan to drive in America? This information can be very useful.

 

An International Driving Permit is not needed for Belgians to drive in the United States, providing you have a Belgian driving license issued after December 31, 1988. These licenses have “Permis de Conduire/Rijbewijs" on the cover translated into all of the languages of the European Union, including English. There is no problem with using this version in the States.

Driving licenses issued before December 1988 have no translations and should be changed - these are only valid in Belgium, not in neighboring countries. A new version of the license can be obtained from the administration of your commune.
